Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organised a Seminar on Standardization, Certification & Quality Control of Distribution Transformers on 9th January at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The seminar was supported by IEEMA, ITMA and ICAI. Mr. M.J.Joseph, Director General, BIS was the Chief Guest who emphasized on various aspects of standardization, Certification and also ensured about the speeding up of the process of issuing of License to Transformer Manufacturers.
The Seminar was organised to discuss about the revised version of IS 1180(Part-1):2014- Outdoor type, insulated liquid immersed Distribution Transformer upto and including 2500kVA, upto system voltage of 33kV which shall come for mandatory BIS certification into force w.e.f 1st of February, 2015.

IEEMA Seminars evoke response from major industrialised countries and attract the best engineering minds and thoughts, from India and abroad. These Seminars are a confluence of Industry, Academia, Research, Testing and Standardisation.
TRAFOTECH is the International Conference on Transformers, held once in four years, under the auspices of Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA), the apex national body representing the electrical manufacturing industry in India. Since 1998, it is held at Mumbai with venue at any of the reputed hotels. This is held for two days in January /February with an inaugural meeting, followed by 4~6 technical sessions. Generally a theme is selected for each conference against which technical papers are invited. Each session is chaired by an eminent expert on the subject and rapporteur summarises the contents of papers and proceedings. 2~4 key note speeches by senior technical experts from the country and abroad is a regular feature. A concluding panel discussion by experts, summarising the conference proceedings and listing up recommendations form the final session of the conference. From Trafotech-2006 conference onwards, special tutorial session is held for a day prior to conference where in depth presentations are given on topics relevant to industry and utilities.
