IEEMA Capacitor division represents all the major stakeholders of the Indian Capacitor industry estimated at Rs. 400 crores.

IEEMA has been organising International Seminars on various Electrical Equipments and systems such as Cables, Capacitors, Electrical Rotating Machines, Insulating Materials, Energy Meters, Switchgear & Controlgear and Transformers since the eighties. IEEMA Seminars evoke response from major industrialised countries and attract the best engineering minds and thoughts, from India and abroad. These Seminars are a confluence of Industry, Academia, Research, Testing and Standardisation.

Held every four years, CAPACIT is a forum to share contemporary trends and appreciate unfolding market & technological changes in the area of Capacitors and allied systems. There have been 7 editions of this Seminar since its inception in 1986.

It is a matter of pride for the industry and IEEMA that papers presented over the years at CAPACIT, Static Compensation in 1986, Switched Capacitor Systems in 1993, Harmonics in 1997, to name just a few, are representative of the changes that have subsequently taken place in our industry. CAPACIT has therefore proven itself as a wonderful platform and Innovations-enabler, and a harbinger of change in our Industry.

Papers presented at these Seminars over the years have been compiled for your reference. In the initial years these compilations were printed for circulation. With the advent of technology, they were made available in electronic (CD) version as well. Hitherto, bound volume of Papers of a Seminar has been a standalone publication. With a view to help researchers and practitioners in cross referencing, IEEMA has embarked on suitably indexed digitisation of Papers of all CAPACIT Seminars to date. Care has been taken to make it user friendly. I do hope you will find it useful and easier to reference. I look forward to your valuable feedback so that we are able to continuously improve in the coming years.
