In early 2005, IEEMA – the national association of manufacturers of electrical, industrial electronics and allied equipment, had initiated restructuring of the organization to effectively cater to the emerging needs of its stakeholders. The Vision statement – “Electricity for All and Global Excellence leading to Human Enrichment” was derived based on the five building blocks – ‘Excellence’, ‘Global Presence’, ‘Credibility with all stakeholders’, ‘Enabling Power for All’ and ‘Eco-system Focus’, which form the very basic objectives of the association.

Accordingly, IEEMA prioritized its initiatives which include “Skill Development” apart from other initiatives such as ‘Improved Networking with Government’, ‘Enhancing IEEMA brand’ , ‘Networking with industry associations globally’, ‘Promoting quality, productivity, energy benchmarks’, ‘Organising seminars, workshops and training programme’, ‘Enhancing Cross-sectoral Interaction’.

About 70% of IEEMA members fall under skill development category as defined under MSME Act 2006. IEEMA is working on various projects which will help its members to face the new dynamics of the market; they include training and assistance to adopt the best of quality practices, expose them to the challenges of the global market by participation in international expositions under the IEEMA umbrella, provision of relevant information on technology and “best practices” etc.
