07th September 2017, New Delhi: Meeting of Conductor Division was held at Hotel Pride, Delhi under the Chairmanship of Mr. Manish Agarwal, which was attended by 26 representatives from 17 member companies. Mr J. Pande, Sr. Director, Mr Sudeep Sarkar, Director, Mr. Naveen Upreti, Sr. Executive Officer, and Mr. Akeel Khan, Executive Officer, represented IEEMA at the meeting. The discussions were broadly on State of the industry, PV formula for AL-59, Activities under BIS Committee ET 37 etc. The Division meeting was followed by an Interactive session with senior officials of CEA and Powergrid.”
Interactive session with senior officials from Central Electricity Authority (CEA), PGCIL and IEEMA Conductor Industry wherein CEA and Powergrid officials has replied the queries raised by the Industry on the future prospects and other related issues. Members witnessed the presence of the following senior officials of CEA and Powergrid:
a) Mr. P.S. Mhaske, Member (Power System), CEA
b) Mr. S. K. Ray Mohapatra, Chief Engineer, Power System Planning & Project Appraisal-II,CEA
c) Mr. Sanjay Srivastava, Chief Engineer, Power System Engineering & Technology Development, CEA
d) Mr. S. K. Mishra, Executive Director, Powergrid
Mr. Mhaske, Member (Power System), CEA has informed as per National Electricity Plan, they are envisaging more than one lakh circuit kilometres (including under construction) capacity addition by 2020 which includes Intra and Inter State transmission. CEA informed about the upcoming Quality Standards regulation and invited inputs on the health monitoring of the assets from the industry. Freedom of choosing the type of conductor based on the parameters specified in the tenders were also deliberated in the interactive session.
Powergrid has expressed their contentment towards Indian manufacturers in providing quality products and informed that Powergrid is considering easing the process of Inspection and Type testing procedures. It was further informed that more tenders are expected to be released from Powergrid in next 2 to 3 years.
