Bangalore, 10th February, 2016: Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA), flagged off ELECRAMA – World Electricity Forum in Bengaluru today. ELECRAMA 2016 will provide the stakeholders in the power industry a worldview on technology, best practices, new systems and forecasting the trends in the future of electricity, both from technology and a socio-economic point of view. To be hosted at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, ELECRAMA 2016 has grown to become the largest and most prestigious event in its space in the world. Spread over a gross area of 77,000mt2, the exhibition will host visitors from over 120 countries and the overall footfall is expected to be over 1,00, 000. There will be over 1000 exhibitors showcasing one of the most diverse products and solutions.

ELECRAMA 2016 has a very robust range of concurrent events happening parallel to the exhibition like the World Utility Summit, Reverse Buyer Seller Meet which saw business of $200mn in last edition, CEO Summit, the world’s largest International T&D Conclave, Network to Networth etc. A dedicated Students Pavilion has been set up where students from 1000 colleges across India will participate by showcasing their out of the box ideas and projects. A separate renewable energy pavilion has been set up to showcase and discuss the latest developments in the renewable space.

Just as Karnataka has made a mark as a destination for IT and Digital world, it has also been working towards making itself a champion of renewables and early adopter of new technologies that would minimise losses and improve productivity and being sustainable. Karnataka has been a pioneer in the development of many areas of electricity in India. In line with its vision of providing 24 hours electricity to all by year 2020, the state has taken many progressive measures like improving the efficiency of electrical companies, encouraging development of Renewable Energy and implementing energy conservation measures. Therefore, it has but naturally become the host state to ELECRAMA 2016. The exhibition is supported by Government of Karnataka, BESCOM (Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd.) and KPTCL (The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited).

Speaking at the curtain raiser for the exhibition, Mr. Babu Babel, President, IEEMA mentioned that, “I am overwhelmed to announce that ELECRAMA 2016 is now open. We are expecting it to be a huge success in terms of technology and innovation required for the sector to grow. This will also set the course for where the industry is headed in the coming years. I would like to thank our members, exhibitors and visitors, whose dedicated patronage has made ELECRAMA a continued success right from its inception and I expect this edition to be no different. I would also like to thank Government of India and Government of Karnataka who has supported us wholeheartedly throughout this endeavor. I urge the industry and people to come to ELECRAMA and experience the business opportunities the exhibition offers firsthand.

Mr. Aaditya Dhoot, Organising Committee Chairman, ELECRAMA added, “India is today the 3rd largest producer of Electricity in the world. But yet 300 million people are deprived of basic access to electricity. Our per capita consumption of Electricity is 1/5 of China and we have a long way to go. However we lose about 100000 lakhs Crores of electricity a year by way of losses and theft. These losses are now an issue which the entire nation is concerned about. It’s no longer an “Electrical Industry” problem, but a national problem. The climate changes and issues about pollution is also an issue which needs to be addressed.”

Scheduled to be held at Bengaluru between 13 and 17 February 2016, the 12th edition of ELECRAMA will also be the World Electricity Forum. 4 Union Ministers, Shri Anant Geete, Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Power, Shri Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Railways and Shri Kalraj Mishra, Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises, have confirmed their presence for ELECRAMA 2016. Officially supported by Ministry of Power, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, this is the largest and most prestigious event in its space in the world.
